Code, Insurance § 27–406.1","heading":"","body":"(a) In this section, “individual surety” means a person that:\n(1) issues surety bonds or contracts of surety insurance; and\n(2) does not have a certificate of authority issued by the Commissioner.\n(b) It is a fraudulent insurance act for an individual surety to solicit or issue a surety bond or contract of surety insurance except as provided in:\n(1) §§ 13–207 and 17–104 of the State Finance and Procurement Article; and\n(2) for an uncompensated person, §§ 5–203 and 5–204 of the Criminal Procedure Article.","path":["Article - Insurance"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gin\u0026section=27-406.1","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:28Z","sha256":"56709d40558ef56f46978b1234cb7110e6348429555a761cb974dabe09946152","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-insurance-27-406","next":"us-md/md.-code-insurance-27-407"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
