Code, Insurance § 3–317","heading":"","body":"(a) The Commissioner may suspend or revoke the certificate of qualification of a surplus lines broker:\n(1) if the surplus lines broker fails to file the report required by this subtitle;\n(2) if the surplus lines broker fails to remit the tax required by this subtitle;\n(3) if the surplus lines broker fails to keep records required by this subtitle, or fails to allow the Commissioner to examine those records;\n(4) if the surplus lines broker fails to file or falsifies the affidavit required by this subtitle; or\n(5) for any applicable ground for suspending or revoking the license of an insurance producer under this article.\n(b) The Commissioner may not reinstate the certificate of qualification of a surplus lines broker whose certificate has been suspended or revoked until the broker pays all penalties and delinquent taxes that are owed.","path":["Article - Insurance"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gin\u0026section=3-317","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:28Z","sha256":"a57bd3c9ef91403f60d343b0862ab4ae53c64458cacd34a3e3366157a37ffbe6","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-insurance-3-316.1","next":"us-md/md.-code-insurance-3-318"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
