Code, Insurance § 33–102","heading":"","body":"(a) The purpose of this title is to establish standards for:\n(1) data security; and\n(2) the investigation of and notification to the Commissioner of a cybersecurity event applicable to carriers.\n(b) This title may not be construed to:\n(1) create or imply a private cause of action for violation of its provisions; or\n(2) curtail a private cause of action which would otherwise exist in the absence of this title.\n(c) Compliance with this title does not relieve a carrier from a duty to comply with any other requirements of federal law or Title 14 of the Commercial Law Article relating to the protection and privacy of personal information.","path":["Article - Insurance"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gin\u0026section=33-102","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:28Z","sha256":"9d9c11c488b0ff4286d1666879c138a3450d09f9c117ef241223806df198ac9c","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-insurance-33-101","next":"us-md/md.-code-insurance-33-103"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
