Code, Insurance § 8–309","heading":"","body":"(a) Subject to the hearing provisions of Title 2 of this article, the Commissioner may deny a registration to an applicant or refuse to renew, suspend, or revoke the registration of a registrant if the applicant or registrant:\n(1) makes a material misstatement in an application for registration;\n(2) fraudulently or deceptively obtains or attempts to obtain a registration for the applicant or registrant or for another;\n(3) has been convicted of a felony or of a misdemeanor involving moral turpitude;\n(4) in connection with the administration of a plan or with activities on behalf of a life insurer, commits fraud or engages in illegal or dishonest activities; or\n(5) violates any provision of this subtitle or a regulation adopted under it.\n(b) This section does not limit any regulatory power of the Commissioner under Title 2 of this article.","path":["Article - Insurance"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gin\u0026section=8-309","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:28Z","sha256":"e8d078498c6631818b00c6d4422022a931afc35b7d885124090170fc49f5305f","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-insurance-8-308.1","next":"us-md/md.-code-insurance-8-310"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
