Code, Insurance § 8–608","heading":"","body":"Subject to the hearing provisions of Title 2 of this article, the Commissioner may deny a registration to an applicant or refuse to renew, suspend, or revoke the registration of a registrant if the applicant or registrant:\n(1) knowingly makes a material misstatement in an application for registration;\n(2) fraudulently or deceptively obtains or attempts to obtain a registration for the applicant or registrant or for another;\n(3) has been convicted of a felony or of a misdemeanor involving moral turpitude;\n(4) in connection with the viatical settlement contract and related insurance application, commits fraud or engages in illegal or dishonest activities;\n(5) otherwise has shown a lack of trustworthiness or competence to act as a viatical settlement broker or viatical settlement provider; or\n(6) violates any provision of this subtitle or a regulation adopted under it.","path":["Article - Insurance"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gin\u0026section=8-608","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:28Z","sha256":"33bd0d5aea2613a9938df542895e214735e46981be1716159977ef5240e41da9","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-insurance-8-607","next":"us-md/md.-code-insurance-8-609"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
