Code, Labor and Employment § 10–318","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) The State Treasurer shall invest surplus money of the Fund in any security in which a savings bank may invest under State law.\n(2) If the State Treasurer invests in a certificate of deposit, it shall:\n(i) be interest bearing;\n(ii) be issued by:\n1. a bank located and authorized to do business in the State;\n2. a national banking association located in the State; or\n3. a trust company located and authorized to do business in the State; and\n(iii) be secured in full by a pledge of a direct obligation of the State or United States.\n(b) If sale of a security in which money of the Fund is invested is in the best interest of the Fund, the State Treasurer may sell the security.","path":["Article - Labor and Employment"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gle\u0026section=10-318","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:38Z","sha256":"73e7b82bffe2f54cacdfc4cc046f49379ac7067eaf9ff8a78f768bbb75d4aedb","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-labor-and-employment-10-317","next":"us-md/md.-code-labor-and-employment-10-319"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
