Code, Labor and Employment § 3–1209","heading":"","body":"(a) An employer may not:\n(1) violate any provision of this subtitle;\n(2) hinder, delay, or otherwise interfere with the Commissioner or an authorized representative of the Commissioner in the enforcement of this subtitle; or\n(3) discharge or otherwise discriminate against an employee because the employee:\n(i) has requested or taken parental leave authorized under this subtitle;\n(ii) makes a complaint to the employer, the Secretary, or another person;\n(iii) brings an action under this subtitle or a proceeding that relates to the subject of this subtitle or causes the action or proceeding to be brought; or\n(iv) has testified or will testify in an action under this subtitle or a proceeding that relates to the subject of this subtitle.\n(b) The Commissioner may bring an action for injunctive relief and damages against a person who violates subsection (a)(1) or (3) of this section.","path":["Article - Labor and Employment"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gle\u0026section=3-1209","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:38Z","sha256":"26eddb2384fe20a85b5e77b116301a45945812fe84e96200dcb2d3a0e3dc1989","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-labor-and-employment-3-1208","next":"us-md/md.-code-labor-and-employment-3-1210"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
