Code, Labor and Employment § 5–203","heading":"","body":"(a) To inspect excavation work for the Commissioner, the Commissioner may deputize an individual who:\n(1) is employed by a county, a municipal corporation, or the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission or other similar authority;\n(2) has the approval of the chief of the unit for which the employee works; and\n(3) has attended a training course that the Division of Labor and Industry conducts and, on completion of the course, has passed an examination.\n(b) An individual deputized under subsection (a) of this section:\n(1) may inspect excavation work only in the county, municipal corporation, or other jurisdiction of any other authority that employs the individual;\n(2) has the authority of a safety inspector of the Division of Labor and Industry; and\n(3) shall report to the Commissioner on each action related to an inspection under this section, on a form that the Commissioner provides.","path":["Article - Labor and Employment"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gle\u0026section=5-203","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:38Z","sha256":"7fca102ea4a6a22a0f456d9496a0f478101cd9d5c26aed8c4f95f1233601d169","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-labor-and-employment-5-202","next":"us-md/md.-code-labor-and-employment-5-204"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
