Code, Labor and Employment § 5–401","heading":"","body":"(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) (1) “Employee” means an employee (as defined in § 5-101 of this title) or former employee when the individual may be exposed under normal operating conditions or foreseeable emergencies.\n(2) “Employee” includes:\n(i) a line supervisor;\n(ii) a maintenance worker;\n(iii) a member or former member of a volunteer fire, ambulance, or rescue company;\n(iv) operating personnel; and\n(v) a production worker.\n(c) (1) “Employer” means an employer (as defined in § 5-101 of this title) and includes a volunteer fire, ambulance, or rescue company.\n(2) “Employer” does not include a farmer who:\n(i) uses a hazardous chemical in farming; and\n(ii) complies with the applicable requirements of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act.","path":["Article - Labor and Employment"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gle\u0026section=5-401","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:38Z","sha256":"c64c80f0c5b4aa3023952be3cdc4b5679ced8d653cabb5e271ed06fa4bc7bb99","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-labor-and-employment-5-328","next":"us-md/md.-code-labor-and-employment-5-402"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
