Code, Labor and Employment § 8–1003","heading":"","body":"(a) An individual who otherwise is eligible to receive benefits is disqualified from receiving benefits if the Secretary finds that unemployment results from discharge or suspension as a disciplinary measure for behavior that the Secretary finds is misconduct in connection with employment but that is not:\n(1) aggravated misconduct, under § 8–1002.1 of this subtitle; or\n(2) gross misconduct under § 8–1002 of this subtitle.\n(b) A disqualification under this section shall:\n(1) begin with the first week for which unemployment is caused by discharge or suspension for misconduct; and\n(2) continue for a total of at least 10 but not more than 15 weeks, as determined by the Secretary, based on the seriousness of the misconduct.","path":["Article - Labor and Employment"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gle\u0026section=8-1003","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:38Z","sha256":"a99fd9badc086d1e661482cdfc9a13c8baccd2e913ba2714ee6d4ce64badbe3f","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-labor-and-employment-8-1002.1","next":"us-md/md.-code-labor-and-employment-8-1004"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
