Code, Labor and Employment § 8–309","heading":"","body":"(a) The Secretary shall appoint local advisory councils.\n(b) Each local advisory council shall consist of:\n(1) an equal number of members who represent employees and who represent employers; and\n(2) the number of members who represent the general public that the Secretary sets.\n(c) Each member of a local advisory council who represents employees or who represents employers shall be regarded as a representative of employees or employers because of affiliation, employment, or vocation.\n(d) A member of a local advisory council:\n(1) may not receive compensation; but\n(2) is entitled to reimbursement for necessary expenses.\n(e) The local advisory councils shall help the Secretary to:\n(1) develop policies and discuss problems related to the administration of this title; and\n(2) ensure impartiality and freedom from political influence in the solution of those problems.","path":["Article - Labor and Employment"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gle\u0026section=8-309","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:38Z","sha256":"adb75571e924f4ce0777f75a8be13ebfc6f21fc8791c3049c469c0451fd57bfa","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-labor-and-employment-8-308","next":"us-md/md.-code-labor-and-employment-8-310"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
