Code, Labor and Employment § 9–1103","heading":"","body":"(a) An employer, superior, union official, member of a union, guild, or similar group, or another person connected with the employment of a covered employee entitled to benefits under this title may not attempt to influence, directly or indirectly, the choice of a lawyer by the covered employee:\n(1) through corruption;\n(2) by threat or force; or\n(3) for personal gain.\n(b) A person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to a fine not exceeding $1,000 or imprisonment not exceeding 6 months or both.","path":["Article - Labor and Employment"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gle\u0026section=9-1103","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:38Z","sha256":"2de9df12913bbdad95bb7bd3e923121edd401a316697725ff327cead1a3c217e","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-labor-and-employment-9-1102","next":"us-md/md.-code-labor-and-employment-9-1104"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
