Code, Labor and Employment § 9–215","heading":"","body":"(a) In this section, “organized militia” includes members of the Maryland Defense Force described under § 13-203 of the Public Safety Article.\n(b) Each officer or enlisted member of the organized militia of the State is a covered employee in peace time, while the member is:\n(1) training as part of the Maryland State Guard; or\n(2) on active military duty in the organized militia under order of the Governor in time of:\n(i) civil disorder;\n(ii) labor disorder;\n(iii) natural disaster; or\n(iv) other events that require the support of the State Militia.\n(c) For the purposes of this title, the State is the employer of an individual who is a covered employee under this section.","path":["Article - Labor and Employment"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gle\u0026section=9-215","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:38Z","sha256":"eaea25ff45b08c11ec61293920697e61937cd8ec1d99e752a968ca1e896720ae","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-labor-and-employment-9-214","next":"us-md/md.-code-labor-and-employment-9-216"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
