Code, Labor and Employment § 9–410","heading":"","body":"(a) An insurer that provides workers’ compensation insurance in the State shall have in the State competent individuals who:\n(1) handle and adjust each disputed workers’ compensation claim in the State for the insurer; and\n(2) possess the knowledge and experience to handle and adjust each disputed claim.\n(b) An insurer that provides workers’ compensation insurance in the State shall establish a toll-free telephone number through which an insured or claimant, or a representative of an insured or claimant, may make direct telephone inquiries during regular business hours.\n(c) The Commission may assess a fine not exceeding $1,000 on an insurer that does not comply with this section.","path":["Article - Labor and Employment"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gle\u0026section=9-410","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:38Z","sha256":"d8a22750b2f5d2db8cb1570d19fb3fe45d4659bc6e7ca383993d3fa61730617c","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-labor-and-employment-9-409","next":"us-md/md.-code-labor-and-employment-9-501"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
