Code, Labor and Employment § 9–716","heading":"","body":"(a) In any investigation or hearing by the Commission, a person may not be excused from testifying or producing a document in accordance with an order of the Commission or its secretary on the ground that the testimony or document may:\n(1) tend to incriminate the person; or\n(2) subject the person to a forfeiture or penalty.\n(b) Except as provided in subsection (c) of this section, a person may not be prosecuted, punished, or subjected to any forfeiture or penalty because of any act, transaction, matter, or thing about which the person testifies under oath or produces a document, on order of the Commission or an examiner or inspector of the Commission.\n(c) A person who commits perjury is subject to prosecution or punishment.","path":["Article - Labor and Employment"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gle\u0026section=9-716","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:38Z","sha256":"91fee9968ddb8bf4cf0400145735167acdb01ab21c30e8e17e3af678b69c19ee","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-labor-and-employment-9-715","next":"us-md/md.-code-labor-and-employment-9-717"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
