Code, Land Use § 17–113","heading":"","body":"(a) In this part the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) (1) “Business” means a lawful activity conducted primarily:\n(i) for the purchase, sale, lease, or rental of property;\n(ii) for the manufacture, processing, or marketing of products or other personal property;\n(iii) for the sale of services to the public; or\n(iv) by a nonprofit organization.\n(2) “Business” does not include a farm operation.\n(c) “Displaced”, with respect to a person, means moving from real property, or moving the person’s personal property from real property:\n(1) wholly or partly as a result of the Commission’s acquisition of the real property; or\n(2) as the result of a written order of the Commission to vacate the real property for a public works program or project the Commission undertakes.\n(d) “Farm operation” means an activity that:\n(1) is conducted primarily for the production of one or more agricultural products, including timber, for sale or home use; and\n(2) customarily produces those products in sufficient quantity to be able to contribute materially to the operator’s income.\n(e) “Relocation payment” means a payment the Commission makes to a displaced person in accordance with this part.","path":["Article - Land Use"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glu\u0026section=17-113","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:47Z","sha256":"51dcb3fa823d3e943235ccb4afe15b289bb9f85908a71d3b2b9d74547f2bed0c","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-land-use-17-110","next":"us-md/md.-code-land-use-17-114"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
