Code, Land Use § 3–102","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) The planning commission for a local jurisdiction shall include in the comprehensive plan the following elements:\n(i) a community facilities element;\n(ii) an area of critical State concern element;\n(iii) a goals and objectives element;\n(iv) a housing element;\n(v) a land use element;\n(vi) a development regulations element;\n(vii) a sensitive areas element;\n(viii) a transportation element; and\n(ix) a water resources element.\n(2) If current geological information is available, the plan shall include a mineral resources element.\n(3) The plan for a municipal corporation that exercises zoning authority shall include a municipal growth element.\n(4) The plan for a county that is located on the tidal waters of the State shall include a fisheries element.\n(b) (1) The planning commission for a local jurisdiction may include in the plan additional elements to advance the purposes of the plan.\n(2) The additional elements may include:\n(i) community renewal elements;\n(ii) conservation elements;\n(iii) flood control elements;\n(iv) natural resources elements;\n(v) pollution control elements;\n(vi) the general location and extent of public utilities; and\n(vii) a priority preservation area element developed in accordance with § 2–518 of the Agriculture Article.","path":["Article - Land Use"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glu\u0026section=3-102","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:47Z","sha256":"3b58fbc33749ac8cd8fd723de8fb7cae5cfebda9d188cbd29aa22e7dcc4694d7","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-land-use-3-101","next":"us-md/md.-code-land-use-3-103"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
