Code, Land Use § 3–104","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) A sensitive areas element shall include the goals, objectives,\nprinciples, policies, and standards designed to protect sensitive areas from the\nadverse effects of development.\n(2) A local jurisdiction shall consider wildlife movement and habitat\nconnectivity when enacting, adopting, amending, or executing a plan in accordance\nwith § 3–101 of this subtitle.\n(b) (1) Beginning October 1, 2013, the Department of Natural Resources\nshall provide a statewide forest resource inventory to local jurisdictions at least\nevery 5 years, to be available for the local comprehensive plan review by local\njurisdictions required under §§ 1–416(a) and 3–301(a) of this article.\n(2) The Department of Planning shall coordinate with the\nDepartment of Natural Resources and the State Highway Administration to provide\neach local jurisdiction with updated information on habitat connectivity concerns\nand current and planned wildlife crossings.\n(c) Before the plan is adopted, the Department of the Environment and the\nDepartment of Natural Resources shall review the sensitive areas element to\ndetermine whether the proposed plan is consistent with the programs and goals of\nthe departments.","path":["Article - Land Use"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glu\u0026section=3-104","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:47Z","sha256":"4043009deaaacbc04ac8eb1a72314ba4c376757e05ad7e81dbd1b2b5fc11cb9c","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-land-use-3-103","next":"us-md/md.-code-land-use-3-105"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
