Code, Land Use § 4–202","heading":"","body":"(a) The legislative body shall adopt zoning regulations:\n(1) in accordance with the plan;\n(2) with reasonable consideration for, among other things, the character of the district or zone and its suitability for particular uses; and\n(3) with a view to conserving the value of property and encouraging orderly development and the most appropriate use of land.\n(b) The zoning regulations shall be designed to:\n(1) control street congestion;\n(2) promote health, public safety, and general welfare;\n(3) provide adequate light and air;\n(4) promote the conservation of natural resources;\n(5) prevent environmental pollution;\n(6) properly manage growth and development; and\n(7) promote or facilitate adequate transportation, water, sewerage, schools, recreation, parks, and other public facilities.","path":["Article - Land Use"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glu\u0026section=4-202","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:47Z","sha256":"2f5e9ebf52cca00aa049ff82e63242c7574ec21b4cfd703d657bc3a05191b0fc","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-land-use-4-201","next":"us-md/md.-code-land-use-4-203"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
