Code, Land Use § 7–101","heading":"","body":"To encourage the preservation of natural resources or the provision of affordable housing and to facilitate orderly development and growth, a local jurisdiction that exercises authority granted by this division may enact, and is encouraged to enact, local laws providing for or requiring:\n(1) the planning, staging, or provision of adequate public facilities and affordable housing;\n(2) off–site improvements or the dedication of land for public facilities essential for a development;\n(3) moderately priced dwelling unit programs;\n(4) mixed use developments;\n(5) cluster developments;\n(6) planned unit developments;\n(7) alternative subdivision requirements that:\n(i) meet minimum performance standards set by the local jurisdiction; and\n(ii) reduce infrastructure costs;\n(8) floating zones;\n(9) incentive zoning; and\n(10) performance zoning.","path":["Article - Land Use"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glu\u0026section=7-101","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:47Z","sha256":"4321013303230d7804705f3e5b422eb1031e4f348ff9380ce7492667b2415f6b","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-land-use-6-204","next":"us-md/md.-code-land-use-7-102"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
