Code, Local Government § 1–1017","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) The county commissioners or county council of a county may\ncooperate, consistent with this subtitle, for the construction or reconstruction of\nhospitals or related facilities by contributing up to one–third of the cost of any\nhospital or related facility.\n(2) To pay the county contribution under this subsection, the county\ncommissioners or county council may:\n(i) use general fund revenues of the county; or\n(ii) within the limits of any restriction on the borrowing power\nof the county, issue bonds, notes, or other evidence of indebtedness, pledging the full\nfaith and credit of the county to the payment of principal of and interest on the bonds,\nnotes, or evidence of indebtedness.\n(3) For the purposes of this subsection, the Secretary of Health, as\nthe sole unit to represent the State, shall cooperate with the county.\n(b) (1) The County Commissioners of Kent County may cooperate,\nconsistent with this subtitle, for the construction of a nursing home or related\nfacilities by contributing up to one–third of the cost of the nursing home or related\nfacilities.\n(2) A nursing home constructed under this subsection shall have at\nleast 25 beds.\n(3) To pay the county contribution under this subsection, the county\ncommissioners may:\n(i) use general fund revenues of the county; or\n(ii) within the limits of any restriction on the borrowing power\nof the county, issue bonds, notes, or other evidence of indebtedness, pledging the full\nfaith and credit of the county to the payment of principal of and interest on the bonds,\nnotes, or evidence of indebtedness.\n(4) For the purposes of this subsection, the Secretary of Health, as\nthe sole unit to represent the State, shall cooperate with the county commissioners.\n(c) (1) The County Commissioners of Somerset County shall cooperate,\nconsistent with this subtitle, for the construction of a nursing home hospital or\nrelated facilities by contributing up to $200,000 of the cost of any nursing home\nhospital or related facilities.\n(2) A nursing home hospital constructed under this subsection shall:\n(i) have 60 beds;\n(ii) be located in the town of Crisfield, on the same grounds as\nMcCready Hospital;\n(iii) have a corridor connecting it to McCready Hospital; and\n(iv) be known as the Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home.\n(3) To pay the county contribution under this subsection, the county\ncommissioners may:\n(i) use general fund revenues of the county; or\n(ii) within the limits of any restriction on the borrowing power\nof the county, issue bonds, notes, or other evidence of indebtedness, pledging the full\nfaith and credit of the county to the payment of principal of and interest on the bonds,\nnotes, or evidence of indebtedness.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=1-1017","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"d697c776a99b15c9cd9ce293105d4ba10d9571c1ac5eeba09cf59b6377a3ff1f","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-1-1014","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-1-1101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
