Code, Local Government § 1–1201","heading":"","body":"(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) “Distribute” means to:\n(1) give, sell, deliver, dispense, or issue;\n(2) offer to give, sell, deliver, dispense, or issue; or\n(3) cause or hire any person to give, sell, deliver, dispense, or issue or\noffer to give, sell, deliver, dispense, or issue.\n(c) (1) “Tobacco product” means a product that is:\n(i) intended for human inhalation, absorption, ingestion,\nsmoking, heating, chewing, dissolving, or any other manner of consumption that is\nmade of, derived from, or contains:\n1. tobacco; or\n2. nicotine; or\n(ii) an accessory or a component used in any manner of\nconsumption of a product described in item (i) of this paragraph.\n(2) “Tobacco product” includes:\n(i) cigarettes, cigars, pipe tobacco, chewing tobacco, snuff, and\nsnus;\n(ii) electronic smoking devices; and\n(iii) filters, rolling papers, pipes, and liquids used in electronic\nsmoking devices regardless of nicotine content.\n(3) “Tobacco product” does not include a drug, device, or combination\nproduct authorized for sale by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration under the\nFederal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=1-1201","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"9c89fc6f4101c28a4e5f799d81fcafb61e4f7d4d46fa08c98ff7ef9ae905f905","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-1-1110","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-1-1202"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
