Code, Local Government § 1–1205","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) Except as otherwise provided in paragraph (2) of this subsection,\na person who receives a citation under this subtitle may elect to stand trial for the\nviolation by filing a notice of intention to stand trial with the county health officer at\nleast 5 days before the date set in the citation for the payment of the civil penalty.\n(2) In Cecil County, a person who receives a citation under this\nsubtitle may elect to stand trial for the violation by filing a notice of intention to stand\ntrial and a copy of the citation with the District Court at least 5 days before the date\nset in the citation for payment of the civil penalty.\n(b) After receiving a notice of intention to stand trial under subsection (a)(1)\nof this section, the county health officer shall forward the notice and a copy of the\ncitation to the District Court.\n(c) After receiving the citation and notice, the District Court shall schedule\nthe case for trial and notify the defendant of the trial date.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=1-1205","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"a0e174280688262ba108bd7e9908d7e0270161743fa3e05f487a984e341e8669","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-1-1204","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-1-1206"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
