Code, Local Government § 1–1305","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) In this section the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(2) (i) “Fair market value” means a value that:\n1. is determined by a schedule adopted by the\nDepartment of Transportation; and\n2. includes the value of the integral parts of an outdoor\nadvertising sign, less depreciation.\n(ii) “Fair market value” does not include loss of revenue.\n(3) (i) “Outdoor advertising sign” means an off–premises outdoor\nsign that is:\n1. commercially owned and maintained; and\n2. used to advertise goods or services for sale in a\nlocation other than the location where the sign is placed.\n(ii) “Outdoor advertising sign” includes a sign composed of\npainted bulletin or poster panel, generally referred to as a billboard.\n(b) A county or municipality shall pay the fair market value of an outdoor\nadvertising sign that:\n(1) was lawfully erected and maintained under a State, county, or\nmunicipal law or ordinance; and\n(2) is removed or required to be removed by the county or\nmunicipality.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=1-1305","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"a14d2d57808f396311789b01f63c7aa829e8cbc0b161bc6918a4d234987c75b5","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-1-1304","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-1-1306"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
