Code, Local Government § 1–1311","heading":"","body":"(a) A county or municipality, in developing a construction or improvement\nproject involving a bridge or other transportation facility that is adjacent to or crosses\na waterway, shall consider any reasonable and appropriate measures to provide or\nimprove in the vicinity of the bridge or other transportation facility water access for\nfishing, canoeing, kayaking, or any other nonmotorized water dependent recreational\nactivity.\n(b) A county or municipality, in consultation with the Department of\nNatural Resources and interested stakeholders, shall establish:\n(1) standards and guidelines for identifying appropriate bridges and\nother transportation facilities to be considered for the provision or improvement of\nwater access under this section; and\n(2) best practices and cost effective strategies for accommodating\nwater access under this section.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=1-1311","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"2e9af78eb0b236c176c55660bf92bca00f48dd49811110b1bfb4a1c509065c4a","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-1-1310","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-1-1312"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
