Code, Local Government § 10–319","heading":"","body":"(a) A county may provide for:\n(1) building, maintaining, and repairing any street, road, lane, alley,\nfootway, bridge, culvert, highway, or public place that is condemned, ceded, opened,\nwidened, extended, or straightened as public property; and\n(2) the assessment of the costs of any work done in accordance with\nitem (1) of this subsection on the assessable basis of the county.\n(b) A county may provide:\n(1) that the owner or possessor of any lot shall grade, regrade, pave,\nrepave, or repair the footways in front of the lot; and\n(2) for the enforcement of item (1) of this subsection by fine or\npenalty.\n(c) A county may regulate the opening of street surfaces.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=10-319","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"817f538c609140e2657f72692ca6a7fdb4ecfc8c61c890f897f7d342d34c69df","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-10-318","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-10-320"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
