Code, Local Government § 11–301","heading":"","body":"(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) “Curfew hours” means the hours between midnight and 5:00 a.m.\n(c) “Establishment” means a privately owned place of business operated for\nprofit to which the public is invited.\n(d) “Guardian” means a person who is appointed by a court as a guardian.\n(e) (1) “Public place” means a place to which the general public has\naccess for a lawful purpose.\n(2) “Public place” includes:\n(i) a public street, a sidewalk, an alley, a highway, and a\nright–of–way of a public street or highway; and\n(ii) the common areas of a transport facility, a school, a\nhospital, an apartment building, an office building, a shopping center, a park, a\nplayground, a parking lot, a theater, a restaurant, a bowling alley, a tavern, a cafe,\nan arcade, and a shop.\n(f) “Remain” means to:\n(1) linger unnecessarily in a public place; or\n(2) fail to leave the premises of an establishment or a public place\nwhen asked by a law enforcement officer or an employee of the establishment or\npublic place.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=11-301","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"0cc4bcef62fa6156e2ee11f49365c9a6512cdb0bf1109e64d3c7860c4ea74633","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-11-211","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-11-302"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
