Code, Local Government § 12–412","heading":"","body":"(a) The County Commissioners of Washington County may acquire\nproperty or any interest in property by purchase, gift, or condemnation to acquire,\nconstruct, or maintain a railroad line, if the county commissioners:\n(1) determine, by resolution, that the railroad line will help preserve\nand attract industry and promote economic growth in the county; and\n(2) solicit bids and hold a public hearing in the same manner as\nrequired for other public property in the county.\n(b) (1) If the State builds or acquires a railroad line in Washington\nCounty, the County Commissioners of Washington County may contribute a\nreasonable amount toward the cost of the railroad line from the general funds of the\ncounty.\n(2) Before the county commissioners spend money under this\nsubsection, the county commissioners shall comply with the requirements for\nacquisition of property for a railroad under subsection (a) of this section.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=12-412","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"ca6efd9e0a52f0c66c6a9729ca3e873c96accc804dd21210ec7cc88a604857e6","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-12-411","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-12-501"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
