Code, Local Government § 12–503","heading":"","body":"(a) This section applies to all counties, except Baltimore City.\n(b) The governing body of a county has control over county roads.\n(c) The governing body of a county may appoint:\n(1) road supervisors; and\n(2) civil engineers to oversee the grading, construction, and repair of\ncounty roads.\n(d) A civil engineer appointed in accordance with subsection (c) of this\nsection shall:\n(1) hold office for a term, with a salary, under a bond, and subject to\nregulations of the governing body calculated to secure competent officers and a\nfaithful discharge of duty; and\n(2) direct and manage the grading, construction, and repair of county\nroads.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=12-503","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"cc1166014072be5567437efdf96240274f6421ee2d29f6d92fcaff2d8657c432","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-12-502","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-12-504"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
