Code, Local Government § 12–513","heading":"","body":"(a) The governing body of a county may contract with a property owner for\na right–of–way over land that is necessary for:\n(1) the opening or altering of a road;\n(2) a public wharf;\n(3) drains for county roads; or\n(4) other public uses.\n(b) When the governing body of a county contracts for a right–of–way for a\nroad under subsection (a) of this section, the governing body shall:\n(1) have a licensed surveyor make a plat of the road;\n(2) record the plat in the office of the clerk of the circuit court for the\ncounty in which the deed conveying the property is required to be recorded; and\n(3) incorporate the plat into the deed conveying the property.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=12-513","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"ea2375e01eaeb15de8715819f5ba8d630c67c3795d02d398266cae308714ca46","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-12-512","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-12-514"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
