Code, Local Government § 12–527","heading":"","body":"(a) This section applies only to:\n(1) Allegany County;\n(2) Baltimore County;\n(3) Calvert County;\n(4) Carroll County;\n(5) Cecil County;\n(6) Frederick County;\n(7) Garrett County;\n(8) Harford County;\n(9) Howard County;\n(10) Montgomery County;\n(11) Prince George’s County;\n(12) St. Mary’s County; and\n(13) Washington County.\n(b) (1) Except as provided in paragraph (2) of this subsection, the\ngoverning body of a county may adopt and enforce rules and regulations relating to\nthe maximum size and weight of motor vehicles that may be operated on county\nroads.\n(2) The governing body of a county may not set the maximum weight\nunder paragraph (1) of this subsection at a weight greater than the maximum allowed\nby the public general laws of the State.\n(3) Rules and regulations adopted under this subsection shall:\n(i) have a reasonable relationship to the construction, use,\nand character of the road; and\n(ii) be designed to assure the continued safety and good\ncondition of the road.\n(c) A person who violates a rule or regulation adopted under this section is\nguilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to imprisonment not exceeding\n60 days or a fine not exceeding $1,000.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=12-527","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"0ae049f34dff91a6fd2cf5aab412c7572ae2ee30c0c585ca5cadd41391aae09f","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-12-526","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-12-528"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
