Code, Local Government § 12–538","heading":"","body":"(a) The County Commissioners of St. Mary’s County may regulate for any\npublic road, sidewalk, curb, gutter, or storm drainage facility in the county that is not\nin a municipality and that has not been designated or maintained as a part of the\nState or federal highway system relating to:\n(1) vehicle weight;\n(2) vehicle parking;\n(3) vehicle abandonment;\n(4) building or maintenance by a private or public utility necessary\nfor the performance of the utility’s purpose;\n(5) building or maintenance of driveway connections where\nconnections are provided; and\n(6) vehicle speed.\n(b) (1) This subsection applies to roads proposed for subdivisions,\nincluding sidewalks, curbs and gutters, driveway entrances, and storm drainage\nfacilities and appurtenances to be located in the subdivision.\n(2) The County Commissioners of St. Mary’s County shall enact, by\nordinance, rules and regulations that govern the grading, building, improving,\nmaintaining, and repairing of roads, used or intended for use by the public.\n(c) If required by an ordinance enacted under subsection (a) of this section,\nthe County Commissioners of St. Mary’s County shall provide appropriate traffic\ncontrol devices.\n(d) For a new road, sidewalk, curb, gutter, or storm drainage facility, the\nCounty Commissioners of St. Mary’s County may regulate relating to:\n(1) engineering;\n(2) construction; and\n(3) acceptance of the road, sidewalk, curb, gutter, or storm drainage\nfacility into the county roads system.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=12-538","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"e050c95d72b9dd722c799ede79038f641e7eb6d2b8a301d52fce76e57f99234a","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-12-537","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-12-539"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
