Code, Local Government § 12–601","heading":"","body":"(a) This section applies to all counties, except Baltimore City.\n(b) The governing body of a county has control over county bridges.\n(c) The governing body of a county may appoint civil engineers to oversee\nthe construction and repair of county bridges.\n(d) A civil engineer appointed in accordance with subsection (c) of this\nsection shall:\n(1) hold office for a term, with a salary, under a bond, and subject to\nregulations of the governing body of the county calculated to secure competent officers\nand a faithful discharge of duty; and\n(2) direct and manage the construction and repair of county bridges.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=12-601","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"c800d6fd38ab7334c08926e345db206c4f9a1d7a4a76f86090a87a5ac098aad0","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-12-539","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-12-602"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
