Code, Local Government § 12–609","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) On the date designated in the advertisement for the contract to\nbuild or repair a bridge under this part, the governing body of a county shall open the\nbids.\n(2) The governing body shall award the contract to the lowest bidder\nthat the governing body determines is qualified to build or repair the bridge.\n(3) The person awarded the contract shall provide the governing body\na bond issued by an approved surety, in double the amount of the contract,\nconditioned on performance of the contract.\n(b) (1) After notification by the contractor that the work is finished, the\ngoverning body of a county shall:\n(i) inspect the work; and\n(ii) if the governing body determines that the bridge is built or\nrepaired in accordance with the specifications of the contract, the governing body\nshall take control of the bridge and open the bridge for public travel.\n(2) After the bridge is open for public travel, the contractor is entitled\nto receive the last installment due on the contract.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=12-609","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"48638bfdefde8fc3f62f8091774d91921688d8fd9854e6adba402e12d7387700","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-12-608","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-12-610"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
