Code, Local Government § 12–610","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) A resident of a county may submit a written petition to the\ngoverning body of a county requesting that a bridge connecting that county to an\nadjoining county be built or repaired.\n(2) If the governing body determines the request for bridge building\nor repair is reasonable, the governing body shall request in writing the concurrence\nof the governing body of the adjoining county.\n(3) If the governing body of the adjoining county concurs, the\ngoverning body of each county shall:\n(i) appoint three independent examiners; and\n(ii) notify the governing body of the other county of the\nappointment.\n(b) (1) The examiners appointed under subsection (a) of this section shall\nmeet promptly to determine:\n(i) the advisability of building or repairing the bridge;\n(ii) the location of the building or repair;\n(iii) the building or repair plan;\n(iv) the materials required for the building or repair;\n(v) the estimated cost of the building or repair; and\n(vi) the portion of the cost of building or repair to be paid by\neach of the adjoining counties.\n(2) The examiners shall report the findings and recommendations\nmade under paragraph (1) of this subsection to their respective governing body.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=12-610","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"a47a8055dd3f8ce81882c27daaef7aa96aaaf513890ec3e2a418ecc0bddbc535","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-12-609","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-12-611"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
