Code, Local Government § 12–618","heading":"","body":"(a) The County Commissioners of St. Mary’s County may regulate bridges\nin the county that are not in a municipality and that have not been designated or\nmaintained as a part of the State or federal highway system relating to:\n(1) vehicle weight;\n(2) vehicle parking;\n(3) vehicle abandonment;\n(4) building or maintenance by a private or public utility relating to\nthe performance of the utility’s purpose;\n(5) the building or maintenance of driveway connections where\nconnections are provided; and\n(6) vehicle speed.\n(b) If required by an ordinance enacted under subsection (a) of this section,\nthe County Commissioners of St. Mary’s County shall provide appropriate traffic\ncontrol devices.\n(c) For a new bridge, the County Commissioners of St. Mary’s County may\nregulate relating to:\n(1) engineering;\n(2) construction; and\n(3) acceptance of the bridge into the county road system.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=12-618","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"3d71e4bff4be6983ed3992201274f09630166da4041e15b1261b282762950833","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-12-617","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-12-621"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
