Code, Local Government § 12–905","heading":"","body":"(a) This section applies only to Anne Arundel County.\n(b) (1) If a person fails to obey a subpoena served by the Anne Arundel\nCounty Human Relations Commission:\n(i) the Commission may apply to a circuit court in any county\nfor an order requiring the attendance and testimony of witnesses and the production\nof books, papers, records, electronically stored information, documents, and tangible\nproperty; and\n(ii) the court may issue an order requiring the attendance and\ntestimony of the witness and the production of the books, papers, records,\nelectronically stored information, documents, and tangible property:\n1. after notice to the person subpoenaed as a witness\nor directed to produce books, papers, records, electronically stored information,\ndocuments, and tangible property; and\n2. on a finding that the attendance and testimony of\nthe witness or the production of the books, papers, records, electronically stored\ninformation, documents, and tangible property is relevant or necessary for the\nproceedings of the Commission.\n(2) An order issued by the court under this subsection shall be served\non the person to whom it is directed by the sheriff or deputy sheriff.\n(3) A failure to obey an order issued by the court under this\nsubsection may be punished by the court as contempt of court.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=12-905","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"a1b0315cb735a5fbe109bbbed509a24bb2f027706a90fd80c6a26f002d6529bf","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-12-904","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-13-101"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
