Code, Local Government § 13–205","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) Notwithstanding any provision of the Business Regulation\nArticle, in Calvert County, a palm reader, fortune–teller, soothsayer, or similar\nindividual shall:\n(i) apply to the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Calvert County\nfor a license to do business; and\n(ii) pay a license fee of $1,000 to the Clerk of the Circuit Court\nfor Calvert County.\n(2) Before an applicant may be issued a license under this section,\nthe applicant shall:\n(i) be fingerprinted and photographed by the Department of\nState Police; and\n(ii) obtain a certificate from the Department of State Police\nthat indicates that the applicant has never been convicted of a crime, other than a\nmotor vehicle violation.\n(3) The term of the license is 3 months.\n(b) A person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on\nconviction is subject to imprisonment not exceeding 6 months or a fine of not less than\n$100 and not exceeding $500 or both.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=13-205","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"9d4ab33d4c8fa26a4a4c9a682db2a923b63171a1d09c0a64328bbe20c83ceaaf","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-13-204","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-13-301"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
