Code, Local Government § 13–307","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) An applicant for a transient vendor license shall execute and file\na bond with the governing body of the county in the amount of $10,000.\n(2) The bond shall be issued by a surety:\n(i) authorized to do business in the State; and\n(ii) approved by the governing body.\n(b) (1) The bond shall be payable to the extent of any taxes, fees, or fines.\n(2) The surety shall indemnify a purchaser who suffers a loss because\nof defective goods or misrepresentation.\n(c) (1) The bond shall provide that the governing body of a county may\nfile suit against the licensee or the surety for taxes, fees, or fines due from the licensee\nthat are not paid within 30 days after the termination of:\n(i) a sale authorized under this part; or\n(ii) the transient vendor license.\n(2) The bond shall provide that a purchaser at a sale may maintain\nan action for claims arising from the sale against a licensee or the surety.\n(d) The bond shall continue in effect for at least 1 year after the termination\nof the transient vendor license expires and until:\n(1) all actions are concluded and judgments have been satisfied; or\n(2) the amount of the bond has been exhausted by payments on\njudgments.\n(e) The bond shall be in addition to any deposit, license fee, permit fee, or\nother requirement under county law.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=13-307","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"4890e6fff790831f323d3ce6d5f9f33d000c5ff068f7499f817d9d7c1512d236","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-13-306","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-13-308"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
