Code, Local Government § 13–401","heading":"","body":"(a) This section applies to all counties except:\n(1) Anne Arundel County;\n(2) Baltimore City;\n(3) Baltimore County;\n(4) Cecil County;\n(5) Howard County;\n(6) Prince George’s County;\n(7) Queen Anne’s County; and\n(8) Worcester County.\n(b) The provisions of §§ 9–105 and 9–106 of this article apply to an act, an\nordinance, or a resolution adopted by a commission county under this section.\n(c) The governing body of a county may:\n(1) prevent and remove nuisances; and\n(2) prevent the introduction of contagious diseases into the county.\n(d) The governing body of a county may approve the location for:\n(1) soap manufacturing;\n(2) fertilizer manufacturing;\n(3) slaughterhouses;\n(4) packinghouses; and\n(5) any other facility that may involve conditions that are unsanitary\nor detrimental to health.\n(e) This section does not affect:\n(1) the powers and duties of the Secretary of Health;\n(2) the powers and duties of the Secretary of the Environment; or\n(3) any other public general law that relates to health.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=13-401","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"711abe6084b8e074022399b1d46d1196d164714400eef738b1b3ca7f56b96314","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-13-315","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-13-402"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
