Code, Local Government § 16–116","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) In this section the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(2) “Check” has the meaning stated in § 8–101 of the Criminal Law\nArticle.\n(3) “Insufficient funds” means insufficient funds as described in § 8–\n102 of the Criminal Law Article.\n(b) The provisions of §§ 9–105 and 9–106 of this article apply to an act, an\nordinance, or a resolution adopted under this section.\n(c) (1) The County Commissioners of Washington County may impose a\nfee for each check that is presented in payment of any obligation to the county and is\ndishonored due to insufficient funds.\n(2) The county commissioners shall determine the amount of the fee\nimposed under this section.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=16-116","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"2881bbcc2ea149d4e2c819c6c3c52b020c56eaa195e9e07629e7c5c21d100fb2","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-16-115","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-16-201"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
