Code, Local Government § 17–205","heading":"","body":"(a) The governing authority of each governmental entity shall adopt by\nresolution a local investment policy that:\n(1) meets the needs of the governmental entity; and\n(2) is consistent with the local government investment guidelines\nadopted by the State Treasurer under § 17–204 of this subtitle.\n(b) Promptly after the adoption of a local investment policy, the\ngovernmental entity shall mail a certified copy to the State Treasurer.\n(c) If the State Treasurer determines that the local investment policy is not\nconsistent with the local government investment guidelines adopted by the State\nTreasurer under § 17–204 of this subtitle:\n(1) the State Treasurer shall notify the governmental entity; and\n(2) the governing authority shall prepare and submit a revised local\ninvestment policy that is consistent with the local government investment guidelines.\n(d) If the governing authority amends the governmental entity’s local\ninvestment policy, the governmental entity shall submit the new local investment\npolicy to the State Treasurer in accordance with subsection (b) of this section.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=17-205","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"962ba5fdce95866c6578deb35f0e35b25a8b2f103deba416e92c999c1d2995a9","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-17-204","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-17-206"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
