Code, Local Government § 17–207","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) Each governmental entity shall adopt by resolution, motion, or\nordinance a local debt policy that:\n(i) is consistent with the Maryland Constitution and all\napplicable State and local laws; and\n(ii) meets the needs of the governmental entity.\n(2) Promptly after the adoption of a local debt policy, the\ngovernmental entity shall mail a certified copy to the State Treasurer.\n(3) If the State Treasurer determines that the local debt policy is not\nconsistent with the Maryland Constitution or any applicable State or local law:\n(i) the State Treasurer shall notify the governmental entity;\nand\n(ii) the governmental entity shall prepare and submit a\nrevised local debt policy.\n(b) If the governmental entity amends its local debt policy, the\ngovernmental entity shall submit its revised policy to the State Treasurer in\naccordance with subsection (a) of this section.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=17-207","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"2a075568a49b2ff0848b3c9671ccf1650e3e1e34677f30bc1715379dbae57a14","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-17-206","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-17-208"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
