Code, Local Government § 18–108","heading":"","body":"(a) An authority has the powers granted to it by local law, consistent with\nthis subtitle, to allow it to carry out this subtitle.\n(b) An authority may:\n(1) use a common seal;\n(2) sue and be sued; and\n(3) perform corporate acts necessary to carry out this subtitle.\n(c) By local law, a county or municipality shall establish the budgetary and\nfinancial procedures of an authority.\n(d) (1) An authority may adopt, in the manner provided by local law,\nrules and regulations for the operation and use of property and facilities under its\njurisdiction.\n(2) A person who violates a rule or regulation adopted by an authority\nis guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to imprisonment not exceeding\n180 days or a fine not exceeding $1,000 or both.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=18-108","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"5e3e182b7ebe1fd1ac698adf6abea1f609a7e814b6406ee598c30c41257d1bf6","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-18-107","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-18-109"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
