Code, Local Government § 19–204","heading":"","body":"(a) This section applies only to the following governmental entities:\n(1) a county;\n(2) a municipality;\n(3) a public corporation of the State;\n(4) a sanitary commission or district; and\n(5) a unit, public corporation, or other instrumentality of a county or\na municipality.\n(b) Notwithstanding any other law, a governmental entity authorized to\nissue bonds may issue bonds in a form that qualifies as a registered form under §§\n103 and 149 of the Internal Revenue Code or a regulation adopted under those\nsections.\n(c) Whenever a governmental entity provides for the sale of bonds in\nregistered form, the governmental entity may:\n(1) establish procedures for the registration and transfer of the\nbonds;\n(2) appoint any agent, including an authenticating trustee, corporate\ntrustee, paying agent, registrar, or transfer agent;\n(3) in connection with the establishment and maintenance of a\ncentral depository system for the transfer or pledge of the bonds, make agreements\nwith:\n(i) custodian banks and their nominees; or\n(ii) financial intermediaries and their nominees; and\n(4) exercise any other power that relates to issuance of bonds in\nregistered form.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=19-204","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"bbcefc38b697b8ece9be904a1bc7ea3e15c608dfc89f00885af62f7238e842b0","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-19-201","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-19-205"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
