Code, Local Government § 19–230","heading":"","body":"(a) The financial officer may establish a separate rebate fund to be used to\nmake any payments to the United States with respect to investment earnings on\nproceeds that may be required by the Internal Revenue Code.\n(b) There may be separate accounts within the rebate fund.\n(c) Amounts deposited to the rebate fund shall be used only for the purpose\nof making rebate payments, and no appropriation will be required before payment of\nany required rebates from the rebate fund to the United States.\n(d) The financial officer may make payments from the rebate fund as\nrequired in order to:\n(1) comply with the Internal Revenue Code; and\n(2) maintain the exclusion from gross income for federal income tax\npurposes of interest on the bonds.\n(e) Any excess money held in the rebate fund with respect to an issue of\nbonds after all required rebate payments for that issue have been made, as certified\nby the financial officer, shall be applied in a manner consistent with the Internal\nRevenue Code.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=19-230","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"b030c4fdd69e609dde27f06c919d97f4a47127dd6a149a0d730f79980a290213","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-19-229","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-19-231"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
