Code, Local Government § 21–210","heading":"","body":"(a) Except as otherwise provided in this section, this subtitle applies to any\nproject undertaken and any bonds, notes, or other evidence of indebtedness issued\nunder this section.\n(b) The purpose of this section is to provide an alternative means to finance\nprojects on a countywide basis, for which the governing body of the county does not\nsit as a district council.\n(c) (1) The governing body of a county may pay not more than 25% of the\ncost of any project in the county through the issuance of bonds, notes, or other\nevidence of indebtedness.\n(2) If the governing body pays for a portion of a project under this\nsubsection, the governing body may accept any of the remaining cost of the project\nfrom:\n(i) the State;\n(ii) the federal government; or\n(iii) any unit of the State or federal government.\n(d) (1) Except as provided in paragraph (2) of this subsection, any bond,\nnote, or other evidence of indebtedness issued under this section shall be issued as\nprovided in this subtitle.\n(2) Any bond, note, or other evidence of indebtedness issued under\nthis section:\n(i) is not a district obligation; and\n(ii) shall have its payments of principal and interest met by a\ncountywide tax.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=21-210","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"3fadc67d1873f7bc090be2b6d1051cb218f532ab1d457f07e898751f7b7ab17c","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-21-209","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-21-211"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
