Code, Local Government § 21–502","heading":"","body":"(a) This subtitle applies only to:\n(1) a code county in the Eastern Shore class;\n(2) Anne Arundel County;\n(3) Baltimore County;\n(4) Calvert County;\n(5) Cecil County;\n(6) Charles County;\n(7) Garrett County;\n(8) Harford County;\n(9) Howard County;\n(10) Prince George’s County;\n(11) St. Mary’s County;\n(12) Washington County; and\n(13) Wicomico County.\n(b) This subtitle is self–executing and does not require a county to enact\nlegislation or, if applicable, to amend its charter to exercise the powers granted under\nthis subtitle.\n(c) The powers granted under this subtitle:\n(1) are supplemental to any power granted by another law; and\n(2) do not limit any other power.\n(d) This subtitle is necessary for the welfare of the State and its residents\nand shall be liberally construed to effect the purposes stated in § 21–504(a) of this\nsubtitle.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=21-502","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"9977eac6ec74e1612493f99b2b653eef6dea8218d0151f6fb6957dcbadba9693","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-21-501","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-21-503"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
