Code, Local Government § 21–505","heading":"","body":"(a) Unless otherwise provided in the charter, bylaws, or code of a county,\nbefore the governing body of a county enacts an ordinance or resolution that\nestablishes a special taxing district, authorizes the issuance of bonds, or imposes ad\nvalorem or special taxes under this subtitle, the governing body shall:\n(1) hold a public hearing; and\n(2) give notice of the public hearing in a newspaper of general\ncirculation in the county at least 10 days before the date of the hearing.\n(b) Before a county may establish as a special taxing district an area that\nis wholly or partly within a municipality or other county listed in § 21–502(a) of this\nsubtitle, the county shall get the consent of the governing body of the municipality or\nanother county.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=21-505","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"b0275daab4ff80218685936a1e1cd24fdc4ac098c1cc0f97d155d780a9dac29c","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-21-504","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-21-506"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
