Code, Local Government § 25–202","heading":"","body":"(a) The petition shall:\n(1) clearly describe the area’s location, boundaries, and problems to\nbe addressed by the establishment of a watershed association;\n(2) describe the public benefit or the public health, safety, or welfare\nthat would be promoted by establishing a watershed project for watershed protection,\nflood prevention, recreation, soil conservation, drainage, or the conservation,\ndevelopment, storage, use, and disposal of water for any beneficial purpose; and\n(3) request the establishment of a watershed association for the\npurposes listed in item (2) of this subsection.\n(b) A petition is valid only if signed by at least one–third of the landowners\nor the owners of at least one–third of the land in a watershed or subwatershed area.","path":["Article - Local Government"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=glg\u0026section=25-202","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:59:58Z","sha256":"639139b85b42dedb6e6d420ca7df2b2da8e209b40c711ef18ca6ad4c78b98709","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-25-201","next":"us-md/md.-code-local-government-25-203"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
